When appropriate, I use specialized training in Clinical Art Therapy to provide additional avenues for the expression and depth work that healing and growth requires. I choose artistic mediums and directives that best facilitate a client's expression and movement towards their therapeutic goals. The focus is on expression and the creative process, rather than aesthetic quality. Artwork is seen as a reflection of the creator and used for assessment, insight and release. This process connects the mind and body and allows for expression when words alone are unattainable or do not suffice; such as in Trauma Therapy.
You don't need to be an artist, or even like art to benefit from Art Therapy. This process can help anyone, not just children; as it challenges the client to sit with themselves, in an nonjudgemental frame of mind.
